herbancowboydeodorant
Fellas. Tell me if this sounds familiar. I have been trying for the better part of a decade to find a good vegan men's deodorant and have been thwarted at every turn. If a product doesn't have animal derived ingredients, than it is made by a company who tests on animals, and frequently both are the case. In the unlikely event that I did find a men's deodorant that was vegan and cruelty free, it invariably contained aluminum, and I don't know about you, but I love my wife too much to have Alzheimers when I'm 70 and be freaking out because a stranger is changing my diaper.

Barring all of that, however, they just can't seem to make a vegan, cruelty free men's deodorant that doesn't smell like potpourri: lavender, rose, tea tree, lemon-lime, etc. There are a couple with more manly scents, and in my quest not to smell like Clan of the Cave Bear, I settled on a particular one that while it did smell good, caused my pitts to froth up like a horse's behind on a hot summer day. Sexy.

However, thanks to our good friends at Herban Cowboy, it's a new day for vegan males. Their Organic Grooming line of personal care products contain not only a deodorant stick, but soap, after-shave, cologne, and shaving cream in dusk and wild scent. They are organic, cruelty free, come in recyclable packaging and, oh yeah, smell killer. Give 'em a shot, you won't be disappointed.

Personna Speed 3 Pivoting Triple Blade razor

Okay. Cruelty free razors. Not the sort of thing most guys think about, but you should if you are vegan. Most of these are made by companies such as Colgate-Palmolive who unapologetically test on animals. I have used several razors that claimed to be cruelty free, however, they either ripped my face to shreds, or were only good for a clean shave (I have a Fu Manchu mustache, and many of the triple bladed razors that would other wise work well, have a lot of space between the edge of the razor and the blade and don't lend themselves to the "sculpting" of facial hair).

The Personna Speed 3 Pivoting Triple Blade razor from the American Safety Razor Company. These things are awesome. Close shave with an aloe and vitamin E lubricating strip and a sure-grip handle to keep it from getting sideways on you and tearing up that beautiful mug. This company has been on Peta's cruelty-free list since 1992, so big ups for that (plus they are located in Verona, Virginia, well within ass-kicking distance of PETA corporate headquarters in Norfolk, VA, in case they ever get any second thoughts...) By the way, they also make a version for women, so be on the look out for that. Green for dudes, purple for chicks.
