Dinner at NW Raw

Written by Rogue Valley Vegans on .

We had a great dinner at NW Raw ... again!  It's hard not to love this place. They are 99% vegan and the ambiance is beautiful. We had a new member, Jana, join us and we are thrilled to welcome her!  She is a brilliant writer and hardcore committed to the cause. She expressed how grateful she was to have found us and this is reaffirming as to the value of our group.  It's tough out there!

Dinner at Blue Toba

Written by Rogue Valley Vegans on .

We were all sad when Happy Falafel went out of business because they had a few great vegan options, however, enter the new Indonesian restaurant, Blue Toba!  All the food is made fresh to order and they use primarily organic ingredients.  Their tofu is organic and sprouted and man it is yummy!  We tried all 3 vegan options and everyone was really happy with them. The place is really tiny, and I mean REALLY tiny!  We had a great turnout and literally had to take over the whole place.  It is not the most optimal setup for big turnouts, as we cannot sit together, but we managed to mingle and have a great time.  The owner, Birong Hutabarat, is the main chef and he did an amazing job creating rich delicious vegan options and we awarded him with a standing ovation and applaud from our group. It was nice to see him smile from ear to ear!  Our most gracious and amazing member, vegan Chef Al, bowed to him with honor and respect.  I am quite moved by our members.  We are comprised of incredibly compassionate and honorable people and I am just so grateful to share time and space with them.

Dinner at Sauce

We had a great time at Sauce.  The food is always fantastic and we always manage to have very lively conversations.  Leave it up to passionate vegans to have rich and meaningful discussions.  Splash in some twisted humor and you have one satisfying evening!

The Vegan Peeps Keep Coming!

I got an email the other day from a woman saying she is in town and considering moving here.  She found RVV in a web search some time ago. Anyway, whenever I am contacted by a vegan comrade visiting or new to the area, I go out of my way to welcome them and try to throw an event in their honor.  I consider Rogue Valley Vegans to be the AR vegan welcoming committee!  We had a great time last night and talked for hours with fiery passion about ending the exploitation of animals. Julie is an outstanding individual and very passionate about animal rights and changing the world (as are most of our members).  If she moves here she said she wants to get very involved in RVV so fingers crossed she stays in our beautiful region.

Rogue Valley Vegans is truly growing leaps and bounds.  Watch out Rogue Valley!  Put down the flesh and step away from the plate!

Mary's Birthday Dinner

I want to thank everyone who came to my birthday dinner last night.  I had such a good time!  No better way to celebrate than with your vegan peeps. It was very sweet of Donna to suggest to go around the table and have everyone say what they loved about me.  Although admittedly I felt a little awkward to receive this, I felt super charged by everyone saying how grateful they are that I brought all of us together with Rogue Valley Vegans!  This meant so much to me.  I am just so honored to have such caring, compassionate and passionate people in my life.  Thank you!!

Vegans with Clubs!

I scared you on the title of this post huh?!  Our event this month was dinner at Mucho Gusto and mini golf. The food at Mucho is always so good and sharing it with vegan friends makes it even better!  We always have great conversation about things that actually matter in the world.  I personally find it hard to to engage in small talk too often.  I really appreciate our conscious members and that we can really dig into meaningful discussion.  Splash in some laughs over mini golf and it was a great evening!

Potluck at Howard Prairie

We had a really nice time at our potluck at Howard Prairie.  Good food, great conversation and being in nature is the recipe for a successful event!  The only thing missing was water in this end of the lake.  However, my dog Lola managed to find just enough water to get stuck in a mud sink hole.  Poor girl!  All in all it was a great time.  We managed to discuss a full range of topics including how to deprogram from growing up Catholic.  If you need tips on this ... and of course going vegan ... check us out!

Does not get better!

I have lived in the Rogue Valley for over 14 years and, after all that time, I don't think a day goes by that I don't feel so blessed to live in this beautiful region.  Being in nature is so grounding and a powerful reminder of our humble place in the world.  We are so privileged to live on this sacred planet and it is not ours to exploit. When we harm our home and others who share it, we harm ourselves.  I personally can get really down about the mass exploitation of animals and our planet.  There is so much suffering and we are literally killing the very organism that sustains our existence.  Living on earth could and should be a paradise yet we cause indescribable suffering and irreparable harm.  So what can we do as one tiny microbe in the grand scheme? The biggest impact you can make as one person is to go vegan. It is truly one of the greatest contributions you can make to the world as an individual and it's a no brainer why you would make this choice.  Every time you choose not to eat animals not only are you saving a precious life of a being who has the right and will to live free of harm, you are saying no to cruelty and yes to your health!  You are saying you will not support the industries who are causing insurmountable suffering and who are destroying our planet.  The other things you can do are joining with others and keep focusing on envisioning peace and well being in the world.  What we focus on grows so focus on love and compassion and share this focus with others and this is how we bring about change.

Although our little gatherings might seem like simple social events, they are truly much more.  Many of our members have told me how grateful they are to have found RVV and how energized they are to be around like-minded people.  This sharing of energy reaffirms our personal choice not to cause harm and it puts out a higher frequency to the universe and brings much needed positive energy to the world.  Cliche´as it is, love truly is the answer!  So although we all personally enjoy our gatherings, we are making a bigger difference then we might realize.

I am so honored to connect with the amazing people in our group.  Our members are intelligent, sensitive, caring and responsible and I am so happy Rogue Valley Vegans is comprised of such amazing people.  This is exactly what I had envisioned when I created RVV.

Rogue Valley Vegans Revival!

I moved away for a short time forcing me to put RVV on hiatus. Well I am back in the Rogue Valley and reviving Rogue Valley Vegans full force!  We had our first event last night and had a blast with 4 new members!
